East Anglia Truth (www.eastangliatruth.com), We Are Change UK (www.wearechange.org.uk) and the Make Wars History campaign (www.makewarshistory.co.uk) are joining forces to offer both an enlightening and motivational weekend of Truth and Truth Action at the Sunrise Festival – beginning on 29th May, 2008.

Taking a problem —-> solution based approach, the focus of our weekend’s schedule will shift from identifying and exposing the myths that continue to be upheld by our corporate media and exploited by governments to further control us and our futures, to presenting the necessary information and direction with which we can use the law and our collective power to truly make wars a thing of the past – and peace therefore a reality. During the festival we aim to build an exciting forum of interraction, education, creativity and motivation with our displays, film screenings and talks.
And in order to take the edge off of some hard issues, all are invited to relax with our group and guest speakers in the “Truth Lounge”..a comfortable, ambient environment designed to be conducive to thoughtful and empowering conversation. The only citeria for admission is an open mind, a want for peace, a thirst for truth!
Also, there’ll be an opportunity to watch the remarkable “Elephant in the Room”. Recently awarded London Independent Film Festival’s “Best UK Documentary 2008″ the film, as well as tracking the 9/11 Truth Movement in the UK and the US, gives a voice to many of those who have suffered the most from those dreadful attacks, from the sick and dying 9/11 First Responders — refused healthcare by the US government — to the muslims in Britain whose identity has been demonised in the media via their coverage on the so-called “War on Terror.” Dean Puckett, the filmmaker, will also be joining us to answer questions in relation to his journey while making this enlightening documentary.
Be a part of real, effective and lasting change.
Visit the Sunrise website here to view the festival schedule and to buy tickets.

CIA Protects Al-Qaeda Group From Extradition

Paul Joseph Watson
Prison Planet
May 23, 2008
The CIA is protecting an Al-Qaeda linked terror group formerly headed by the alleged mastermind of 9/11 from being extradited to Iran according to an ABC News report, which also reveals that U.S. intelligence has been meeting and advising the group that has been blamed for bombings in Iran.
As the London Telegraph reported last year, “The CIA is giving arms-length support, supplying money and weapons, to an Iranian militant group, Jundullah, which has conducted raids into Iran from bases in Pakistan.”
Jundullah is a Sunni Al-Qaeda offshoot terrorist group formerly headed by the alleged mastermind of 9/11, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, reported the Asia Times in 2004.

Where Are Those Iranian Weapons in Iraq?
Gareth Porter
IPS News
May 22, 2008
WASHINGTON, May 21 (IPS) – The U.S. military command in Iraq continues to talk about an alleged pipeline of Iranian weapons to Iraqi Shiites opposing the U.S. occupation, implying that they have become dependent on Iran for indirect-fire weapons and rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs).
But U.S. officials have failed thus far to provide evidence that would support that claim, and a long-delayed U.S. military report on Iranian arms is unlikely to offer any data on what proportion of the weapons in the hands of Shiite fighters are from Iran and what proportion comes from purchases on the open market.
When Maj. Gen. Kevin Bergner was asked that question at a briefing May 8, he did not answer it directly. Instead Bergner reverted to a standard U.S. military line that these groups “could not do what they’re doing without the support of foreign support [sic].” Then he defined “foreign support” to include training and funding as well as weapons, implicitly conceding that he did not have much of a case based on weapons alone.

Government Now Declaring U.S. Residents Enemy Combatants
MATT APUZZO
Associated Press
May 24, 2008
WASHINGTON – If his cell were at Guantanamo Bay, the prisoner would be just one of hundreds of suspected terrorists detained offshore, where the U.S. says the Constitution does not apply.
But Ali Saleh Kahlah al-Marri is a U.S. resident being held in a South Carolina military brig; he is the only enemy combatant held on U.S. soil. That makes his case very different.
Al-Marri’s capture six years ago might be the Bush administration’s biggest domestic counterterrorism success story. Authorities say he was an al-Qaida sleeper agent living in middle America, researching poisonous gasses and plotting a cyberattack.
To justify holding him, the government claimed a broad interpretation of the president’s wartime powers, one that goes beyond warrantless wiretapping or monitoring banking transactions. Government lawyers told federal judges that the president can send the military into any U.S. neighborhood, capture a citizen and hold him in prison without charge, indefinitely.

“Those responsible for the attack against the Shiraz mosque have confessed to having links to worldwide oppression, in particular the United States and Israel,” Ghorbanali Dorri-Najafabadi was quoted by the agency as saying.
They also admitted carrying out “one or two minor operations,” the agency said, without providing further details except to say the group launched military operations a year ago.

Mass detentions in Mosul as troops move into Sadr City
James Cogan
Global Research
May 21, 2008
More than 1,300 men have been detained by the US military and the Iraqi government in the northern city of Mosul over the past 10 days, as part of an operation ostensibly aimed at smashing the Sunni fundamentalist insurgent organisation, Al Qaeda in Iraq.
Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki announced in January that a major offensive would be unleashed in Mosul and throughout Nineveh province, declaring at the time that it would be the “final” and “decisive battle” against Al Qaeda. The offensive was delayed until this month, however, due to US demands that the Iraqi government first wrest control of the major oil fields and ports around the southern city of Basra from Shiite parties and militias opposed to the US presence in the country and plans for privatising the oil industry.
The assault into Basra began in March and also triggered more than six weeks of fighting in Baghdad between occupation forces and the Mahdi Army militia loyal to cleric Moqtada al-Sadr. A ceasefire has been in effect in Sadr City since May 10, enabling the Iraqi security forces to divert manpower and resources into an offensive in Mosul. Maliki personally travelled to the city to oversee the first days of the operation.

Webb: ‘People In The Administration’ Would Like To Strike Iran Before Leaving Office

Think Progress
May 21, 2008
Last year, Sen. Jim Webb (D-VA) proposed legislation that would have required the President Bush to “seek congressional authorization prior to commencing any broad military action in Iran,” but the amendment failed in the Senate. On NPR’s Fresh Air yesterday, host Terri Gross asked Webb about the bill and if he thinks “the Bush administration is considering a military strike” before Bush leaves office.
“It certainly seems that it’s on the table,” replied Webb, noting that some in the administration are pushing for it:
GROSS: You also introduced a bill that failed to require congressional approval before any military action in Iran. Do you think the Bush administration is considering a military strike against Iran before President Bush leaves office?
WEBB: Well, it certainly seems that it’s on the table. That there are people in the administration who would like to see that happen.

Mail Online
May 22, 2008
Schools are being told today to monitor possible gang members by examining pupils’ computer accounts and taking photographs of graffiti “tags”.
New guidelines say teachers must intervene to stop pupils – including primary children – from joining gangs.
They emerged as the Government also announced sweeping new measures to combat gang violence in a bid to halt the wave of stabbings and shootings on Britain’s streets.

Mother fined £300 for putting bins out early
Urmee Khan
Telegraph
May 22, 2008
Zoe Watmough, 22, left the bins, a grey one and a green one for recycling, outside her home on a Wednesday ready for collection the next day.
Council officers issued her with a £75 fine claiming that the bins had been put out 24 hours before they were due to be emptied.
But the mother-of-three refused to pay and ended up facing magistrates in Bolton, where she was fined £125 and ordered to pay £125 costs and a £15 victim surcharge.
Speaking on Wednesday, Miss Watmough said: “I am flabbergasted at the outcome. All I did was put my rubbish out the night before it was due to be collected.
